What is going on with Lady Gaga's face?

On clocking Lady Gaga's amfAR get-up this morning, a number of opinions did the rounds of the Marie Claire desk - was she emulating Pirates of the Caribbean's Barnacle Bill? Had she caught some bizarre Victorian plague? Or then there was the 'just dunked in a vat of talc' theory.

Of course, the fierce debate focused on the strange white formations that had appeared on the Lady's skin, which on closer inspection were revealed to be clusters of pearls adorning patches of her face and body.

Never one to opt for the ordinary, while others might simply sling on a pearl necklace, Gaga went one step further, giving her face the appearance of having contracted some strange spreading disease.

She looks insane, but at least she's a breath of fresh air in the face of the usual celebrity clones. She deserves credit for originality and keeping it interesting.

I think she looks fabulous, actually! "she looks like she has a skin condition" ha.ha...funny (note the sarcasm) just because you would not wear something like that doesn't mean you have to mock it.

She is fabulous. I admire her style, she is unique, I predict her style will change the way think about fashion and art. The new Lady Gagaâ€™s era comes.

I wouldnt dare wear the stuff she does but i love how different she is. It makes a great change to see someone try to be different instead of all the other young women trying to be like each other and trying to look "sexy" all the time

Terrible! It reminds me of that poor Asian guy with disease which deformed his face and limbs into the shape of a tree-'a tree man'.But it wasn't his choice, but she...on purpose...??? The only thing Lady GaGa can do is to shock with her outfits.I wouldn't give a broken penny for her 'artistic talent'!
