Fabulous and fair trade - new jewellery brand Jump4Timbuktu launches
By Jess Wood on Monday 14 December 2009
Just in time for spring/summer's hot new ethnic-inspired trend (as seen at Etro and Dries van Noten, among others) comes a fab new website featuring ethical jewels from Timbuktu.
Jump4Timbuktu is a charity with a trading arm who market and sell the incredible pieces made by the Tuareg artisan population in and around Timbuktu.
All profits are re-invested in community development projects to help the Tuareg trade their way out of poverty.
The stunning statement pieces are made from sterling silver and include stones like amber and agate.
We're spoilt for choice but we particularly heart this intricate silver and black agate 'Houmeyni' necklace, £130 - it's got the same look as the chunky tribal-style gems seen on the spring/summer catwalks at Lanvin. On-trend and ethical - what more could a girl want?
