Does Cheryl Cole's marriage lack the X Factor?

Cheryl Cole sparked rumours of a split from her husband, Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole, by not wearing her wedding ring on Saturday night's X Factor.

On Saturday and on Sunday's results show Cheryl appeared without her £16,000 wedding ring. The diamond ring was a replacement for the original wedding ring, which Cheryl took off last year after Ashley allegedly had an affair with with single mother, Aimee Walton.

Sources close to the show said that Cheryl just forgot to put it back on after washing her hands. But Cheryl spends weeks planning her outfits very carefully, right down to what nail polish she wears.

Friends of the singer have been reported as saying the marriage is doomed and that Cheryl has never really forgiven Ashley for his infidelity. Speaking to The Daily Mail, a friend said, 'The truth is the marriage is over, even if neither of them wants to confront it. They still have the occasional moment of fun but they both know, particularly Cheryl, that this isn't going to be forever.'

'The pattern of their relationship seems to be that she achieves something, he goes off in a sulk and she spends the next three or four days massaging his ego and building him up again,' said the friend. 'He can be petulant, pouty and vain.'

Ashley, 28, has spent more than £250,000 on jewellery for Cheryl in a bid to win her trust back. Will she be wearing her wedding band on this weeks X Factor?

She DEFINITELY left it off on purpose... She would have got a lot of press for leaving it off on the Saturday if she really had just 'forgotten' it as they claim, and so would have made extra effort to make sure she was wearing it on the Sunday night. She would NOT have forgotten to wear it two nights in a row!

I noticed it as soon as I saw it... you really can't miss that big rock on her finger! Ok, so she may have left it off on Sunday, but she was wearing black on Saturday night, and what doesn't go with that? Deliberate move I would say! Maybe Ashley really is on the way out?

Jewellery is not the way to win trust - he's such a douche. Cheryl, you could SOOO much better than Ashley - he doesn't deserve you.

someones attention seeking!! just because dannii is a better judge than she is, cheryl cant sing, cant dance, cant judge, hasnt got much style taste so what can she do to get press attention oh let me guess take off her wedding ring! so she is using her husband to get attention! either dump the poor bloke or stay with him - poor thing must be as confused as the rest of us...
