I am really not sure why the judges are there, as every week they go to deadlock and Simon has really shown his true colours as every week he has said this is a singing contest and the twins CANNOT sing, then the first opportunity he gets to get rid of them he doesnt, it really does show that all he cares about is money not the programme, does he realise he is messing with people's lives here!

I have a great deal of respect for Simon Cowell most of the time, but I feel he made an error of judgement on last night's show. Not only did his choice reveal him to be insincere in light of his previous remarks about Jedward, it was so obviously unfair for talented Lucie to be voted off. The British Public like things to be "fair" above all else, and clearly the result was unfair last night. I suspect the competition and Mr Cowell himself will lose some popularity over this, although the British public, in addition to being fair, are fickle so it won't take long to forget about it.

My partner thinks Simon's ego took over and due to his rivalry with Louis he wanted the public to vote Jedward out as him giving them the axe would be more of a hollow victory than if the nation had finally decided they were awful. I reckon he's partly right, but of course you can't deny the obvious ratings motivation.

As for him being a hypocrite, there were only two girls left in the entire competition anyway so for him to say she was the best girl left wasn't much of a compliment, personally I think neither of the girls had anything on the (majority) of the boys left in the competition. I suppose he won't feel guilty about not saving Lucie as he knows she wouldn't have lasted that much longer anyway - if it's not an all male final I will be suprised.

And besides, the more press Jedward get about how they're so awful and yet are still in makes people who wouldn't usually watch the show tune in to see just how bad they really are - I know a few people who started watching purely for that reason so this week's press will almost certainly be a big boost in ratings for next week.

I don't think Lucie should have been in the bottom two last night, and I really think given the choice Simon shuld hdave stuick to what he's been saying and got rid of John and Edward, as despite their popularity and ability to create ratings they are really awful singers.

However the article above mentions the twins burgeoning popularity, obviously it''s notoriety as they ended up in the bottom two because they had the second lowest number of votes.

I have thought since the start of the progreamme this year that Joe would win as I think the public will want a boy rather than another girl this year.

Personally I want Jamie to win, he has a fab voice and a lovely face. (Then again I wanted Diana to win last year, I like people with distinctive voices)

I loved Lucie and thought she was totally awesome. On the 'sing out' between her and the twins - she was better. She sang beautifully and the twins sang a song they'd done before and without actually singing! Before they sang, Simon said we'll judge on these two performances alone! If he did he'd have kept Lucie! The twins are entertaining but they're getting old now and they can't sing and this is a singing competition not a 'make a fool out of yourself' competition!

It's a game of popularity and ratings. Very smart move by Simon. He has all 3 acts still in and what better way to ensure they stay in as long as they can by eliminating the strong competition. Simon's decision to let the public decide on Lucy Jones was cynical in the extreme. How many times has he himself said that he should judge the sing off purely on the performance and who sang the best. Also, he had the golden opportunity to oust the (admitedly entertaining) twins which seemed obvious. But simon could not lose by taking the (non) decision he did and the ratings (and hence him) will be the winners.

I have always respected Simon's decisions and seen him as being honest and by this he has gotten away with some nasty comments. Also he was the judge who's comments everyone cared most about. He has lost all his credibility and now comes out as a mean and very small person. Is this an attack against Danny? Considering Simon said it was going to be based on the performance each act had given before the final judges vote, he is an absolute hypocrite. Lucy gave the best perfomance she had ever given so that means what ever she did she couldn't have gone through to next week. Show is no longer about finding talent with the X factor. Im sure not only are the judges looking for this but millions of viewers who watch are looking 4 this too. Viewing figures are as much as important as voting figures.The show is now about greed. When the twins an Lucy were in bottom 2, Simon knew twins would have more votes. Just prior to the sing off he said I just want to say the judges will all ignore all previous performances and vote on each contestants performance now. Clearly he forgot what he had said and took a chance that the public vot and got it wrong. I believe the vote should be open again for the public to select between the last two because clearly the judges do not know what they are doing. If they are going to leave it to the public why bother to have the judges at all. Or select a hundred unrelated members from the audience. Anything must work better than Simon.

Before teh sing-off Cowell said that the judges would do their best to ignore the past and judge the two performances. Clearly, that was nonsense. The decision was all about audience figures. His judgment was that the twins and the inevitable controversy would yield better returns for teh show than Lucy staying in.

This exposes the show for what it really is. this is noting to do with the often quoted 'giving contestants a chance'. X-factor is a money machine.

If you disapprove of Cowell's cynical treatment of an untrained 18 year old who was visibly improving week on week, then there are three things you can do:

1 Stop watching X-factor
2 Stop voting
3 Buy Lucy's first record when it comes out, assuming that someone with sense realises the potential she represents and gives her a recording contract (unless of course that is Syco records)

If we were purely listening to voices then maybe Lucy should have gone through. However every week we are treated to the whole spectacle of backingdancers/singers and in this area John and Edward have entertained brilliantly and look like they are having a ball.With others tears and miseries that is very refreshing. Finally the twins have generated more publicity for the show than all the acts put together. This PR puts the show permanently in the public's eye making it compulsive viewing. Simon made the right decision.

the arguement of the x factor being fixed comes up every year, but this year simon has gone to far. simon knew fine well that lucie was going out because the public vote doesnt count simon probably has the whole show planned out already. he knows who will be goin out next week and he knows who the winner will be. This show is a clear fix, there is no way the public would have voted of one of the best talents to come onto the x factor over them horrors. Ofcom time to stand up to the mark and prove that the x factor once and for all is a fix.

Absolutely ridiculous to see someone as gorgeous and talented as Lucie Jones to leave the competition. She is a brilliant singer compared to those two homo's that cannot sing for crap.
Quite hypocritical of Simon Cowell to say that this is a competition of talent. Seems to me its a competition of money and popularity.

i thought it was shocking the way he cruelly plays with young peoples hopes and dreams , it was an easy decision, its a singing competition, she was the better singer, simple. i feel sorry for jedward too, as they are very young and they are getting alot of flack now.

Well what a surprise! I do not usually watch this program, but I must admit those boys were alot more entertaining than the young lady. At a time when we hear so much bad news these boys certainly made me laugh. Yes lucie is a good singer, but how many good singers do we have???? The young boys were entertaining and if sooooo many people do not agree did they vote?

Simon choose to go to Public Vote knowing that John & Edward would be kept in. Doing this it enabled him once again, without saying it, (same as last week) removing the stronger female singers. These were the only real opposition for his male singers and by allowing to go to public vote, he knew this would remove the serious competition for his male singers leaving him hopefully clear to win X Factor.
Public do not be fooled, Simon is knowingly manipulating us the public to get rid of all his strong opposition.
I believe Lucie could have won X Factor and Simon knew this. I hope the public see Simon for what he has done, and now votes for any other artist than his over 25's, let John & Edward win X Factor and show what a complete mockery X Factor has become, by his manipulation.

Simon is the biggest hypocrit on the planet! My friends and I will not longer be watching x factor because of Simon's ridiculous behaviour on Saturday. The twins should never have got in the competition in the first place, they are utterly talentless and Simon knows this. Lucie has a great voice and should NEVER have been voted off. As for Simon saying he would rather have the boys back, what a farce! He blows hot and cold each week. The show has become a complete and utter joke and has absolutely nothing to do with talent anymore as has been proved by letting the twins in.Simon is treating the public like they are idiots, and we are not.
Can not continue as I am becoming apopleptic with it all!!

I think that Lucie Jones has the best voice of all the candidates.
I think that it's good for her that she is out. It hurts but she will come over it, so she can start her own career.
She will sing longer than most of the candidates that are in Xfactor, because she can sing and isn't some fling that will be over when Xfactor is finished. I saw the same thing here in The Netherlands.
I think and hope we will hear from her soon, because she has such a beautiful voice and she can sing complex songs like her first audition. She's got my vote!

lighten up people, its entertainment!!!. lucy has got a fab voice but she's just ordinary otherwise. In this industry u need that something extra or u wont make it. Over the years how many great voices have we heard and where are they now? Jedward are crap dancers and ok singers. i say that because they were chosen to be in the final. so there must be some singing ability. maybe they should tone done the dancing so it doesnt jerk their voices. lol

The whole country of Ireland and the UK are gutted. When you sang for the last time I was chuffed. I thought thats it the grusome twosome are out. I had to stop myself from kicking the TV. The last two weeks of the X Factor have been a farse. First Simon done exactly the same thing to Rachel last week after saying she was the better singer out of her and Lloyd who whilst a good looking boy, his voice was not up to par. Now after continuously putting the twins down he has made himself look like an idiot. This show used to be about helping people realise their SINGING dreams, not ratings and farsical entertainment which is ultimately what the twins represent. I have not lost faith in it and stopped watching the week Rachel went. Simon has lost his gonads and is more interested in ratings then singing talent. His decisions will in the end be his downfall. I hope.

I think Lucie was very talanted. It's stupid she went out. I think Simon knew she would go out to the public vote so as Lucie was a threat to his acts voted her out. But why Lucie was way better than Olly and Jamie. Poor Stacy, the only girl in the house. i want Either Stacy, Joe or Daniel to win. There the best singers. 2 years ago Louis was critising Same difference and they could sing better than jedward
