Cheryl Cole boosts X Factor ratings

After being hit by nerves last week, Cheryl Cole had no need to worry as her performance on Sunday night's X-Factor pulled in huge ratings for the show.

Cheryl, 26, was so scared about performing on her own and in front of her fellow judges that at one point during rehearsals she apparently broke down in tears.

However, 15 million people tuned in to see Cheryl sing - albeit half mimed - Fight For This Love, her new solo single. That's more people than tuned in last year to watch the final! And around seven million more than watched the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Of course, Whitney Houston's performance also boosted the ratings, but it's Cheryl that everyone is still talking about.
