The original Sugababes to reform?
By Megan Conner on Monday 19 October 2009
Original Sugababe Mutya Buena is reportedly trying to reunite the three original members of the Sugababes to form their own rival band.
Following news that Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and new recruit Jade Ewen are to go ahead with plans to release album Sweet 7 as the Sugababes next month, Mutya is said to be determined to get back together with her old bandmates Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy.
According to The Sun, Mutya has been spurred on by the fact the new Sugababes comprise no founding members and has spent hours on the phone trying to talk both girls round to creating a brand new outfit with a new name.
A source said: 'Mutya is very keen to do this. Keisha has her solo career on the go - including recording with new star Jay Sean - but she feels more comfortable as part of a band.'
Siobhan is also reported to be considering getting back together, after meeting up with Mutya over the summer and laying past disagreements to rest.
Formed in 1998, Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan enjoyed three years of success together before Siobhan left the band in 2001, amid rumours she had been bullied out of the band.
Heidi then took Siobhan's place, Amelle replaced Mutya in 2005, and Jade joined the band when Keisha was asked to leave last month.
But having put their previous problems behind them, it seems the original trio are keen to give things another go.
The source added: 'There were arguments in the past, but all three realise it was because they were young, headstrong and finding fame hard to cope with.'
Come on girls, we're rooting for a reunion!

The original Sugababes had such an amazing sound- please, please get it together girls and show that homegrown quality sells better than the 'manufactured' Sugababes!

Bring it on! I'd love to see an old Sugababes vs new Sugababes chart battle! But i recks the old band are a bit past it now, so the current line-up will probably come out on top.

I agree... these girls left of their own accord anyway, why do they suddenly want to reform now? Solo work not going as planned?! Wonder what they'll be called...

I hope they do it, I would love to have seen that line-up produce more albums. I don't think being at the age of 24/25 they are past anything.

I am thrilled if this rumour is really true...By rights they should really get to keep their name!! Best of luck to them.

I hope it happens. The sugababes were fantastic because they were so different. They were totally unique in their look and sound. In my opinion it has been downhill since Siobhan left in terms of the members. The last 2 additions are quite frankly lowering the tone of the band.Bring back the originals!
