Mad Men star January Jones has spoken out about her unsupportive ex-boyfriend, who told her she wouldn't make a good actress.

Pre-Demi, Ashton Kutcher dated January for three years back in 1998, when she was working as a relatively unknown model.

At the time, the 20-year-old January was struggling to carve out a career on the silver screen - and it seems that her boyfriend was far from encouraging...

'The guy I was dating when I first got to LA was not supportive of my acting,' January reveals in an interview with GQ magazine. 'He was like, I don't think you're going to be good at this. So, f*** you!'

The blonde bombshell has since hit the big time, winning supporting roles in flicks such as Love Actually, Anger Management and American Pie: The Wedding. But she is now best known for her role in the critically acclaimed Mad Men, for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Best TV Actress award.

'He only has nice things to say now - if anything,' she continues. 'I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated.'

Well he can talk... he hasn't exactly been a raving success himself, has he?! Wasn't he directing the beautiful life? Didn't that get scrapped after only a few episodes?
