British stars shine at MOBO awards

British music stars were celebrating last night, as a host of UK talent swept the board at the MOBOS.

X Factor runners-up JLS took home two awards for Best Song and Best Newcomer - and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke turned up to support her friends on their big night.

'The band's success would have been inconceivable just a year ago,' said Marvin Humes. 'I never thought we would be here.'

London band N-Dubz also collected two MOBOS for Best UK Act and Best Album, while rapper Chipmunk beat established US stars Eminem and Kanye West to the Best Hip Hop trophy.

Beyoncé bagged herself some more awards for her mantlepiece, winning Best International and Best Video.

Michael Jackson was honoured with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.

His brother, Jermaine Jackson, accepted the award on Michael's behalf, along with sister La Toya.

'My brother was everything to me... It's part of our responsibility as a family to continue his legacy and keep it alive,' said Jermaine.

It has also emerged that Paris Jackson, Michael's daughter, believes the King of Pop was being worked too hard.

The 11-year-old told La Toya that the strain of preparing for his 50-date This Is It tour was too much for him.

La Toya claims that Paris said, 'They kept working him and Daddy didn't want that', reports The Mirror.

But British talent also triumphed in the style stakes at the MOBOS (Music of Black Origin).

Alexandra Burke shined in a one-shoulder blue mini-dress, while VV Brown added an eclectic twist to a patterned silk shift dress by sporting her infamous fur hat.

Beverley Knight wowed in a sleek asymetrical black mini, and... er... Peter André looked lovely in an embroidered tuxedo jacket!
