'Drugs nearly killed me' says Robbie
Robbie Williams reveals his addiction to prescription drugs forced him into rehab when death 'came knocking'.
The Angels singer says his three-year addiction was so bad it nearly ended his life.
Robbie went into rehab in 2007 - but has never spoken openly about his reasons for checking himself in.
'Robbie Williams does not go into rehab just if his life gets a bit out of control. It was damn serious,' he told The Sun.
'Death had to knock on my door to help me with my decision.'
But Robbie hints that he may never be totally free from his addiction.
'I have a self-destructive character but does this hold me back from being happy? No,' he says.
Things are finally back on track for the 35-year-old, who has a new single out later this month and a new album due to be released in November.
And his comeback gig at the BBC Electric Proms at the end of October sold out in seconds.
The Robster could also be joining his ex-Take That bandmates for a one-off gig for this year's Children in Need. Let me entertain you? Yes, sir!
