Miracle cream sells out

One hundred people have joined a waiting list for a new anti-ageing cream that goes on sale at Selfridges next month.

Hailed as a ‘miracle cure’ that can slow or even reverse signs of ageing such as wrinkles and skin pigmentation, the 3LAB Super 'h' Serum cream has taken more than 10 years to develop and approve. It is said to be the first cream to contain synthetic human growth hormone (HGH). The protein-like substance occurs naturally in the body but 60-year-olds have half as much HGH as 20-year-olds.

Priced at £215 per pot, the cream has sold-out before even arriving in store. Last year, stocks of an earlier version of the cream, named simply 3LAB 'h' Serum cream and costing £125, sold out within days.

A spokeswoman for 3LAB told the Telegraph they put an earlier version of the product in Oscars' goody bags last year and A-list celebrities were 'fighting over it'.

Fans of the cream are said to include Dame Helen Mirren and Jennifer Lopez.

'Now, it's not just stars and rich people who want this serum, it's ordinary men and women too who are fed up with buying products that simply do not work,' the spokeswoman said.

Numerous studies have praised its virtues as a weapon in the fight against the signs of ageing, but it has not been approved in the UK as an anti-ageing therapy because its long term effect on health has not been evaluated. Nonetheless, it has been passed for use as a cream.
