Britney's £6.7 million spending spree

Britney Spears appears to be immune to the economic downturn – in fact the singer’s spending more than ever after new reports that she dropped a cool £6.7 million in the last 11 months.

While Miss Spears earned a whopping £7.6 million last year, she still managed to spend a large proportion of her earnings – £609,000 a month to be precise.

So what could Britters possibly be spending her fortune on? Staff and security for starters. Since her tour began Britney has splashed out almost £300,000 on a vast security team and £124,500 to have staff on hand every minute of the day.

While the eye-watering sums would disable the average bank balance, legal fees are where Britney really took a hit, spending £2 million on fees to employ 17 different lawyers to help with her custody battle to keep sons Sean Preston, 3 and Jayden James, two.

It wasn’t all about the singer, however. A sizeable chunk of Britney’s legal costs were given to ex-hubby Kevin Federline to cover his family court costs.

The gesture didn’t pay off for Britney when Federline was rewarded full custody of the boys. The remainder of the legal fees are down to managing Britney’s estate.

Aside from legal wranglings, Britney’s day-to-day costs have spiralled to in excess of £90,000 annually. It is thought a significant chunk of that is spent on staying in shape.

The diva inside still rears its head though, with news that when Miss Spears hits the UK next month for the British leg of her world tour, she has demanded humidifiers and 100-watt bulbs at London’s Dorchester hotel.

Believe what you will, but one hotel worker has reportedly leaked that Britney has demanded ‘a room that’s never been smoked in, humidifiers in all areas, a selection of the latest magazines and a fresh selection of flowers to arrange herself’.
