Jade makes final public statement
Jade Goody has made her final public statement in which she reveals that she is 'happy' despite facing death and wants to be remembered as 'the mouthy bird off the box'.
The cancer-stricken mother-of-two said that as well as wanting to be remembered as someone who 'irritated and entertained people in equal measure,' she also wanted to be known as a trooper.
She said: 'I also want to be recalled as the girl who put up a fight and would never let herself get beaten down. I was given a death sentence, but I didn't let it kill me.
'I fought it, got married, got christened, I'm happy. I could bitch about dying young, but at the end of the day, I can look back on my life and be proud of what I have done.'
In the interview with OK! magazine she insists she has no regrets.
'I've achieved more in 27 years than some achieve in their lifetime,' she said.
The Big Brother star is today expected to make the journey from the Royal Marsden Hospital in London to her home in Essex, so that she can spend her remaining time with her sons, Bobby and Freddie.
Jade's spokesman Max Clifford confirmed this, he said: 'She will be coming home tomorrow — but only if nurses are able to keep her pain at bay.'
'The plan is she will leave in an ambulance under supervision of someone from the Marsden who will administer the epidural and pain control. Jade is desperate to get home with the boys.
'[But] if doctors are not happy tomorrow morning she will not go home.
'Jade knows she hasn’t very long and wants to be at home surrounded by loved ones and family.'

Let Jade go home and be at peace with her children, she has the money for a team of nurse now.
What more can the hospital do for Jade her days are numbered so let her spend them with her children.
No more publicity, just her children.

I hope Jade gets to spend her last days at home surrounded by her family, my thoughts are with her.
Let's also remember her mother, it's one of the cruellest things in the world to have to attend your own child's funeral - it's not the way nature intended things to be.

I hope the time left to Jade will be filled with peace and love. I'll not forget the laughter she has brought into my life and will continue to pray for her and her family and friends through this terrible time.
What a brave young woman and yes Jade"what a trooper you are" xx

This is a real tear jerker, but let us remember she is a daughter to be proud of, and a mum in a million. I hope that she gets the peace she wants with her family, and peace and serenity in her passing.
God Bless you Jade.

It would be nice if this was the last statement from Jade, however I suspect there will still be more to come.
Whilst I sympathise with the horrible situation she is in and feel sorry for her and her family to be going through this traumatic experience. She is not the only person to whom this is happening in Britain, she is not the only young mother facing certain death in the short term and her family and friends are not the only ones affected by the imminent death of a loved one. She is how ever probably one of the wealthiest people this is currently happening to and as another poster says can well afford the care to die at home. So while everyone is thinking of Jade Goody, I feel more sympathy for all of the unknown people facing this situation without millions in the bank to ensure constant care for the victim and ensuring security for their dependants in the future, the unknown victims not getting hunderds of messages of support every day. I hope Jade's last days as as pain free as possible, however I also wish the same to all of the other people out there fighting cancer without the support of the world's media on their doorstep.

Enough is enough - there are hundreds children, woman and men dying everyday - they don't have the opportunity to make lots of money or be cared - so enough is enough - stop feeling sorry for yourself - Jade has made millions out of this to be able to give financial stability to her boys - what do these other unfortunate people do, just die quietly, how sad is that?

I think Jade is amazing, she is so brave and strong, to agree that her life should be on show for all the world to see, I just can't think of anything worse. My heart goes out to her children who are going to be left motherless. We shall all be thinking about Jade for many years to come X

With all the 'Jade dying' in the papers, I think people forget about the other people who died, and did so with dignity- not to make money. My heart goes to those people, not Jade. What next I wonder? Clifford suggesting a film I expect to advertise her life and death.
Comment by chedley on March 11 17:34
I can understand the point that there are people everyday faced with the battles of cancer and are not as privileged as Jade.
What Jade has done, she has seized her opportunities. That is how the public got to know her! To have the opportunity to have the best care and secure a future for her sons, who wouldn't take it? Unfortunately that is how the world has become.
Apart from that, if there is any good to come from this, Jade has now raised awareness amongst young women to go and have a smear test and get checked regularly.
I hope her last days are only happy. I don't think she realises what an inspiration she is.

Love her or hate her, I don't know, but I can't help thinking that what she had done/been doing the past few weeks as demystified dying of this horrible disease.
I only hope it never happens to me.
God bless you Jade, your partner, your kids and their dad x

jade is an insiration to all of us! shes so strong to be able to share with the world the pain and terror she and her family are going through right now.shes been giving the chance to show and tell people about cancer and she has done so. now we all have a little more understanding to what it is like to go through some thing so terrible. men and women all over the worlld know about her dying from cancer so young...this shows the world how no one is imune to cancer! and by her doing this she has saved many people, more people are having tests done than befor. shes a saint. x

I can appreciate that people have differing opinions and that there are millions of people living this awful nightmare, I am a nurse and have alot of experience of Cancer, chronic illness and death....both personally and professionally. What I dont understand and what makes me livid is the judgemental and cold hearted thoughts and opinions that I have read and heard about Jade's situation and decisions she has made. Okay, granted that she is one of many, but why die quietly? Just incase she offends someone? She has had a very public life after her BB debut, the fact that there is so much press attention surely illustraates that there is genuine caring interest in her, her family and the tragic path which her life is now moving (quickly) down. She is only doing what she has always done.......been herself......NOT what others think she should be and made the most of what life has thrown at her. She wants her sons and loved ones never to forget her, so surely its natural that she will document her life and its final stages in the best way she knows how. Leave her to be, and do whatever she needs to, to allow her some dignity and fulfill her last days. I, for one could possibly handle cancer better than the excruciating painful prospect of leaving my son. Like her, or loathe her, she's a brave, brave girl. God Bless you Jade xxx

You are one in a million Jade and I admire what you have done, both for your boys and cervical cancer awareness. You are a proud mother, with so much love to give your families. It is so easy for people to judge as it's not happening to them. I applaud your strength through the crisis that you have had to face. In years to come, your boys will be SO PROUD of your legacy and the many many lives that you will save through your campaign. Do you know what, each and every person would do what you're doing if they had been in the public eye!! I wish you peace in your final days to share with your boys and Jack xxx

I always avoided smear tests, I hadnt had one for years but this time when the reminder came through I decided not to ignore it. Jade has done a lot of good in raising awareness, and is a true inspiration in how she has coped with the hand dealt to her. God bless Jade and her friends and family and help them through this difficult time.
Comment by josiejo on March 12 15:11
Jade has only done what any other Mother (who worried about leaving young children behind)would do, MADE PROVISIONS FOR THEM... she's not gainin anything out of all this, she isn't going to be around to benefit and anyone who says they wouldn't grab it with both hands if the opportunity came their way in the same situation is either lyin or doesn't give a damn whether their children are well provided for after theyve gone!! She has thought of others right to the end...

I have no doubt that 'mouthy bird off the box' will save many lives due to the publicity surrounding her illness, what a legacy, respect Jade.

Wow. I'm 24 and I've been to the gyno once in my life, when I was 18. My results were a little bit off at the time, but they said it was nothing to worry about. If I had insurance (I don't, and I live in the US), I'd probably get tested again...
Despite living on this side of the pond, I've become really captivated with Jade's sad story. Shame on the people who lambast her for her ignorance and lack of education--why wouldn't she be, when she had to spend her entire childhood caring for her one-armed crack-addict mother instead of properly going to school? Despite being born into a life of utter deprivation, she managed to grab onto opportunity with both hands when it hit her, working very hard to achieve what she has. Despite all the hard knocks that life's thrown at her, to her very last she's working to provide the life, opportunities, and privileges for her boys that she never got.
