Gwyneth's post-Xmas diet tips

Marie Claire Celebrity News: Gwyneth Paltrow

Want to know how Gwyneth Paltrow got herself into those teeny-tiny red carpet frocks? Well, it involves lots of lemon water and a Master Cleanse that even she admits her doctor called 'dangerous.'

Speaking on her tips for post-Christmas dieting with readers of her weekly GOOP newsletter, the actress describes the dramatic detox, which she embarked on last spring, and admits that it  'was not what you would characterise as pretty. Or easy.'

Elaborating, she reveals that the 'hardcore' regime caused her to hallucinate, and admits that her doctor advised her against doing it.

As a fan of the detox, which she does 'a couple of times during the year,' she revealed that she would embark on a new diet for the new year, stating 'I need to lose a few pounds of holiday excess. Anyone else?'

Developed with Dr Alejandro Junger, Paltrow goes onto present her seven-day healthy detox diet, and explains, 'What it came down to was this: you can detox easily and effectively while you continue to eat as long as you are cutting out the foods and other substances that interfere with the detoxification process.'

The diet involves not eating 'dairy, grains with gluten, meat, shellfish, anything processed (including all soy products), fatty nuts, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant), condiments, sugar and obviously no alcohol, caffeine or soda.' She adds the all important tip that you also must drinks lots of water.

A typical day's diet on the Gwynnie detox includes a breakfast smoothie, carrot and ginger salad for lunch and broccoli soup for dinner. A handful of nuts constitutes the only snack.

I think it is horrifying that "celebrities" try to endorse their dangerous dieting tricks - some of them are shocking such as Beyonce with her "lemonade diet"
Youg, impressionable girls read it and will try them to the detriment of their own health. Not really promoting healthy body image is it? in fact my freinds daughter who is 4 years old announced at the dinner table that she wasnt going to eat dinner as she wouldn't be able to fit into her pretty dress!!! and all because she sees undernourished celebrities splashed all over the media. Don't get me wrong, i love fashion but we as a society hve a truly messed up body image. Please will someone get Gok to hsve a word!!!! rant over :)

The biggest problem with celeb's diet is that it involves the knife and a good plastic surgery and NOT the silly little tiny food they are trying to make us believe it's all that it takes to look like them....

Always interested in finding a new way to get rid of those extra pounds, but having just looked at the photo above of Gwyneth I am not too sure I want to try any of her diets.

She looks gaunt and not the happy healthy advert she needs to be for her diet to be interesting to anyone.

She looks as if a few extra pounds would do her good.

No she can keep her pills and diets and I'll keep my pounds
