A-Rod finally speaks about Madonna

The man rumoured to be Madonna's new boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez (aka A-Rod), has spoken out on their romance, insisting they're 'just friends'.

In an interview with People magazine, the Yankess pro laughed off rumours he was dating the material girl, claimed they'd never been on a plane together and insisted he'd only been to two of her recent concerts.

'I've also read that we were buying an apartment together,' he told the magazine. 'That is absolutely ridiculous and not true… We're friends - that's it.'

For those who don't believe him (and, let's face it, that's a sizeable chunk of the world's population), the latest rumour is he's already cheating on his lover.

InTouch Weekly claims A-Rod met model Melissa Britos in Miami last month where the two got a little too friendly.

'He became obsessed with her. He sent her at least a dozen text messages, asking her to spend time with him,' a friend of Britos tells the magazine.

Meanwhile, friends of A-Rod say he won't be tied to just one woman now his marriage is over.

'Alex is definitely excited by Madonna and wants to spend time with her,' says one.

'But when she's not around and he is left to his own devices, he wants the company of other beautiful women. He can't help it. It's in his nature.'
