Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, performed a piano recital for the Queen yesterday.

Visiting Buckingham Palace, Rice took time to show off her classically trained piano skills, performing music by Johannes Brahms while accompanied by Louise Shackleton, the wife of David Miliband, on violin.

The pair were joined by three members of the London Symphony Orchestra for the performance, which was recorded, and then given to Rice as a gift by the Queen.

The current Madame Secretary visited the palace as part of her farewell international tour. In little over a month President-elect Barack Obama will take up his position in office, and Rice will return to her previous role at California's Stanford University.
