Britney celebrates 27th birthday

Britney Spears celebrated her 27th birthday today, but there was no break from her busy comeback schedule.

Instead, the pop princess delivered a sizzling performance on US television's Good Morning America, singing not one, but two tracks from her new album, Circus.

Fittingly taking place in the Big Apple circus tent, Spears arrived clad as a risqué ringmaster, flashing her abs in a cropped lace top and tight leather trousers.

Surrounded by a bevy of clowns, jugglers and dancers, she gave a high octane performance of  the album's title track, before changing into a pair of high-waisted black shorts and another cropped top, this time in red, for Womanizer.

 

The festivities really kicked off once Spears had finished her performing duties, with the presentation of a six tier circus-themed cake. Birthday wishes were interspersed throughout the show, with messages from stars such as Reese Witherspoon, John Travolta, Nicollette Sheridan and Teri Hatcher.

It looked set to be a family-filled day for the singer, who was watched by her sons Preston and Jayden, and her mother Lynne Spears, during filming of the show.

Britney's sixth album, Circus, is released today.
