Top of the Pops back for Christmas
Top of the Pops is being resurrected for two seasonal shows at Christmas and New Year.
The chart show finished its 42-year long run in 2006 and BBC bosses said that would be the end of the weekly music round up.
But fans will be delighted to hear the show is staging a comeback over the festive period. The two shows will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates.
A BBC spokesman said the show would return 'bigger and better', but added 'this does not signal the return of Top of the Pops'.
TOTP's first ever presenter, Sir Jimmy Saville, was delighted with the news.
'Let's try it for Christmas, see how it works... when it started in 1964 it was a good programme,' he told the BBC.
Last month, X Factor guru Simon Cowell said he wanted to buy the rights to the programme for ITV.
But the BBC said the show 'was not up for sale'. Too right too – it would be like selling off part of your family!
