Marie Claire scoops ethical award
By Lucy Hutchings on Friday 14 November 2008
The Marie Claire office is celebrating today, after picking up one of the industry's most prestigious ethical awards.
The Re:Fashion Awards 2008 took place at East London's Shoreditch Town Hall last night, and recognised designers, brands, media and businesses that promote ethical fashion and support environmental projects.
Awarded for our fabulous Eco Chic June 2008 issue, which celebrated Fashion with Heart, Marie Claire won the Consumer Awareness Award, for spreading the green message with style.
Style was clearly key to the evening, and a fashion show featuring Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof proved exactly how far eco fashion has come, with specially made pieces from Vivienne Westwood and Jonathan Saunders lighting up the catwalk.
With a judging panel that included industry luminaries Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson, designer Katharine Hamnett and Hilary Alexander, fashion director of the Daily Telegraph, this fabulous event proved just how eco-chic the ethical fashion industry really has become.

Well done Marie Claire! The Eco issue was brilliant and continues to be a source of inspiration to me when sourcing eco ideas.
