Elizabeth Emanuel puts archive up for auction
Elizabeth Emanuel, the designer best known for creating Princess Diana's wedding dress, has cleared out her archive and put a number of key pieces up for sale.
The virtual auction, online at website AUCTIONATRIUM.COM, includes a huge number of pieces, ranging from cocktail dresses to wedding gowns, as well as garments made for film, and celebrities, such as Elizabeth Hurley, Helena Bonham Carter and Brigitte Nielsen.
Pieces associated with Emanuel's most famous client are also present, including the pale pink blouse that a young Lady Di wore for her engagement photograph. The piece has an estimate of £26,000-£30,000, while a miniature copy of the Princess's elaborate wedding gown is expected to sell for £11,000-£15,000.
Speaking to WWD, the designer spoke of her sadness at selling the items, 'It’s going to be such a wrench to part with these pieces because they are unique.'
All profits raised will go towards Emanuel's latest business venture, a new label entitled, Art of Being Couture. The sale is live now, and will run until 13 November.
