Reports have emerged that the Republican Party have splurged $150,000 on kitting out Sarah Palin's wardrobe as she continues on the campaign trail.

The spree to dress the self-styled hockey mum was funded by the Republican National Committee (RNC) and has raised more than a few eyebrows Stateside, ahead of the 4 November presidential election.

U.S political website politico.com uncovered the credit card flexing after the Republican vice-presidential candidate made trips to Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and St.Louis ($49,425)and Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis ($75,062).

According to the exposed records, the accessorizing of the Alaskan governor began in early September and it doesn't stop there. The RNC has also forked out $4,716 on hair and make-up to keep Mrs Palin looking tip top for the waiting cameras.

The array of couture included Mrs Palin's $2,500 Valentino suit worn for her acceptance speech and a $3,000 Louis Vuitton handbag – which was spotted on the arm of her six-year-old daughter, Piper.

Republican spokeswoman, Maria Comella, declined to answer specific questions about the spending and issued a statement reading: 'With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it’s remarkable that we’re spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign.'

Hmm, we're not so sure Mrs Palin will be willing to let go of couture…

I believe that Sarah Palin does no justice at all to Valentino or Louis Vitton.
It's of little use trying to dress stylishly when she totally lacks any class or style at all. The moment she opens her mouth I cringe irrespective of what she wears; in fact the cringe is so great that I don't even notice the wardrobe.

She spent more on her wardrobe, hair, accessories than I make in 3 years. They call Obama a tax and spend liberal.

Exactly what have they done to make her look better, I can't see any difference hair, has she ever met a hairdresser, makeup all lipstick, certainly a total waste of money.
