Heather Locklear arrested

Heather Locklear has joined the growing list of celebrities to be arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The star was pulled over on Saturday evening in Santa Barbara, California.

‘Around 4.30pm, a female witness saw Heather Locklear driving erratically while leaving a parking lot in Montecito,’ California Highway Patrol spokesman Tom Marshall told People. ‘The witness said Locklear was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times.’

The witness, who apparently didn't recognize the actress, later spotted Locklear, 47, on a nearby highway, exiting her vehicle.

‘The witness called 911 because she was concerned for Locklear's safety,’ Marshall said. ‘When an officer arrived, Locklear was found seated inside her vehicle, which was partially blocking the roadway.’

Locklear was reportedly ‘disoriented and impaired’, and so was taken to the nearest station for drug and alcohol testing, said Marshall.

He added: ‘Alcohol was ruled out as a factor, but based on the officer's observations, we believe Locklear was under the influence of prescription medication.’

The actress’s lawyer and publicist are so far yet to comment.

Two months ago, Locklear was treated for depression and anxiety in a clinic in Arizona.
