Marie Claire News: Alexander McQueen Pre SS09

Taking online shopping to a whole new level, Net-a-Porter have teamed up with Alexander McQueen for an innovative new approach to designer fashion.

On Monday 29th September the luxury style site will give customers the opportunity to watch McQueen's Pre-SS09 show straight from the front row, with the exclusive show debuting on the website.

See something you like? Then there is no need to wait, as all eight looks will be available to buy immediately after the show finishes.

Bringing new meaning to the term fast fashion, the items will not be on sale anywhere else for a further two months.

The event follows on the success from a similar venture with Halston last year. Just 24 hours after the designer show took place at New York Fashion Week, customers were given the chance to buy two looks from the show at Net-a-Porter, which were quickly a sell-out hit.

Natalie Massenet, chairman and founder of Net-a-Porter comments, 'Alexander McQueen is arguably one of the finest creative spirits working in fashion today. We love his shows and we love his cloths and, more importantly, so do our customers. With this project we really are taking the global fashion consumer to the front row at the show – and not just any show but a show held for her – and combined with the instant gratification of being able to purchase her favourites right away and months before anyone else.'

McQueen added, 'To have the opportunity to bring a McQueen show presentation straight to potential customers with an option to buy immediately is a first for us and a truly exciting venture.'

The show will be screened on Monday, sign up here to be the first to watch.
