John Leslie charges dropped
By Carla Bevan on Thursday 24 July 2008
John Leslie will not be charged with the rape allegations made against him last month.
Despite being arrested in June, after attending a London police station voluntarily, police said yesterday they will not be taking any further action against the former TV presenter.
In a statement from his law firm, Leslie's solicitors said: 'Yet again, after a complete and thorough investigation, it has been confirmed that there is no truth or substance to the damaging allegations that were made against our client last month.
'He is of course delighted. The complaint was ridiculous, but yet again and for a second time his name has been dragged through the mud before the law has had a chance to confirm his innocence.
'The law confers a blanket of anonymity on complainants but the accused enjoys no such protection.'
The woman who made the claims against Leslie, who now works as a property developer in Scotland, said she had been attacked at a party in his home in November 1995, but it was never made clear why she took so long to report the alleged assault.

I only wish they would now leave John alone and bring him back as a TV presenter where he belongs. Good luck for the future John. You deserve it.
