Wedding of Lady Rose Windsor

Marie Claire celebrity photos: Wedding of Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman, Rex Features

Princess Anne proved this weekend that even the royals are not adverse to a spot of fashion recycling, when she sported a dress first worn to Charles and Diana's wedding, to another royal nuptials.

The Princess attended the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor, 28, the daughter of the Duke of Gloucester, and George Gilman, 26, at London's St James's Palace on Saturday.

Although the outfit's first outing was back in 1981, she chose the exact same Maureen Baker floral print dress, and even added the same John Boyd hat for the occasion.

The perfect example for the credit crunch, the Princess is a known advocate for repeating outfits, and has been quoted as saying, 'A good suit goes on for ever. If it is properly made and has a classic look you can go on wearing it ad infinitum.'

Amongst other royal attendees, Kate Middleton was one of the best dressed, choosing a stylishly modern wedding ensemble, with a flowing printed chiffon dress, fitted white jacket and black feathered fascinator.

Other guests included newlyweds Peter and Autumn Philips, Prince Edward and wife Sophie Countess of Wessex and Lord Frederick Windsor.

I thought it was absolutely dreadful that Mrs G Gilman was not referred to as the groom's mother at the Windsor wedding last week.Only referred to as a guest. Had it not been for Mrs Gilman George wouldn't have been there.

So now the "other guests" are the actual royals? Since when did Kate become the main event besides the bride? The Bride looked lovely her dress is gorgeous! Congratulations to her and her husband on their special day.

Used to play rugby with George (or as we called him Georgeous George) when he was a student in Leeds. Thouroughly unpretentious lad who was always skint, but good company.

Stephen Hawking or Nelson Mandela, they're interesting - but what is interesting about the royals? It's just an upmarket version of Big Brother! It's either Buck House or the Big Brother House - either one a refuge for weirdos!
As for Kate Moss or Amy Wino - boring, but Becks at least has a talent for football - they royals only seem capable of own goals!

Ahh, now I know why there were 3 routemasters with wedding ribbon on them outside Marlborough House when I cycled home Sat evening (and loads of photographers).

Sorrel, they bring in a LOT of tourism to this country, so the 60p (approx) that each person pays a year to keep our Royal Family is repaided in millions and millions of pounds of income. I'd rather have them representing our Country than someone elected - do you think the Americans are proud of the image George Bush projects? I for one am not proud of the Government we have at the moment, and the Queen does a brilliant job.

How nice to see an article about the Royal family, at last someone interesting to read about.
Comment by Sarah on July 21 13:26

I would rather have the royals anyday than Kate Moss, Amy out of her head Winehouse or 'Thick and Thin' (Beckhams)

Nice to see a royal re-cycling wedding outfits. It's just a shame we can't recycle our royals! I think they're a pointless waste of money and there must be a bin somewhere that will take them, surely?
