Brad Pitt parties at Bono birthday

Brad Pitt is definitely settling into life on the French Riviera - this weekend he was seen partying at Bono's 48th birthday bash in Monaco.

The Hollywood big-hitter joined Prince Albert II and U2's The Edge at the small dinner party on Friday night in Monaco's Sass' Café.

'It was really quite a surprise,' the caf's maitre de told People magazine. 'It wasn't organized in advance. We only got called on it that afternoon.'

According to staff, the sophisticated sit-down dinner – described as 'tres speciale' by one worker – was arranged by Bono's wife Ali Hewson and began with red wine at 10pm. The meal was followed by a champagne toast and strawberry cake lit with candles.

But although Pitt managed to party, his heavily pregnant partner, Angelina Jolie, couldn't make it. Perhaps she passed on her congratulations when she visited Bono last Sunday in Eze with her growing brood of children.
