Golden Globe nominations out
Atonement leads the field for the Golden Globe Awards next year, as the nominations were announced today.
The film adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel picked up seven nominations with actors Keira Knightley and James McAvoy both being shortlisted for the World War II love story.
The Globes, handed out each year, is one of the main events preceding the Oscars on 24 February and often pre-empts who will win an Academy Award.
Helena Bonham Carter, Julie Christie and Daniel Day-Lewis have also been nominated along with Hugh Laurie, Ricky Gervais and Minnie Driver for their TV shows House, Extras and The Riches.
Atonement's other nominations include best film drama, best screenplay and best original score.
