I don’t normally spend my Monday evenings quaffing champagne and watching a woman twirl her nipple tassels around, honestly. This week, however, the usual dinner-in-front-of-Spooks schedule went out the window and, instead, I found myself in the basement of The Club Bar & Dining in London’s Piccadilly with a small group of blushing journalists watching burlesque star Immodesty Blaize (pictured left) take her clothes off. Or, more accurately, teach us how to take our clothes off. The evening kicked off up-scale lingerie label Madame V’s new series of seduction master classes, which start this year with “The Art of the Showgirl” and, from next February, continues with “Aphrodisiac: Savour the Sensation”.

But back to Monday night… thankfully, although Immodesty was quite happy to flash her tassels (and stockings, thong and bra) at us, we got to keep most of our clothes on, instead being taught how to strip out of a silky kimono, how to dance with a fan of pink feathers and even how to wield a diamond-encrusted whip (now you know why the champagne was a must – no one could be lodged from their chair until at least two glasses had been knocked back).

Immodesty herself is a revelation. Confident, giggly and totally gorgeous, she managed to cajole performances (and a few confessions) out of even the shyest among us. Just don’t ask me for a repeat performance…
