Becks to miss first Spice Girls gig

The first concert of the girls' world tour is in Vancouver, Canada. He added: 'I think I'll be at the show a couple of days later in San Jose and have the boys with me.

'And I know Victoria will ring me as soon as the first show ends. She says the rehearsals have gone amazingly well.'

It seems Becks, 32, is fully behind his wife's career moves. Asked if he was looking forward to a break after the US football season, he said: 'Far from it. I'm off on tour with the Spice Girls.'

Meanwhile Mel B will be nursing some hurt pride today after losing in the final of the US television show Dancing with the Stars – the American version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Scary Spice scored top marks from the judges with her final performance of the Mamba, but lost out in the viewer's vote to Brazilian racing driver Helio Castroneves.

Still, she can take comfort from the comments of Len Goodman, a professional ballroom judge, who described her as the 'an absolute revelation' and the 'most versatile dancer I've seen on Dancing with the Stars'. Praise indeed.
