Keri-Anne Payne's mum: Raising an Olympian

Olympic swimmer Keri Anne Payne Rex

Olympic swimmer Keri-Anne Payne's mother, Pat Payne, tells us what it's really like raising an Olympian.

At the Beijing Olympics in 2008,  Keri-Anne Payne won the silver medal in the 10k marathon swim. Now she's preparing for London 2012 so we caught up with Keri-Anne's mother, Pat Payne to talk about what it's like having an Olympian for a daughter.

'She's dedicated her life to this,' says Pat who's taking part in P&G's Proud Sponsor of Mums' campaign. 'The whole family have made sacrifices.' As well as a relentless training schedule, Keri-Anne has had to travel all over the world to compete - but next month she'll be going for gold on home turf.

'It's nerve wracking for the whole family,' says Pat of the games in London, '- seeing all her hard work come together, all the sacrifices she's made and all the sacrifices the family have made all coming down to that one day. But it's going to be a day to remember!'

The film is part of a series called Raising an Olympian from P&G, looking at what it is like to raise a world class athlete, through the eyes of their mums.
