You won't believe how much money you're losing in unpaid overtime

Far too much, basically

Far too much, basically

We're all guilty of staying a couple of extra hours late in the office or checking our work emails out of office hours from time to time. But have you any idea about the true cost of all that unpaid overtime?

Thanks to the guys at TotallyMoney.com, we can now work out exactly how much money we're losing out on (read: a lot). Along with OnePoll, they conducted a survey into how much time the average Brit spends working for free.

Brace yourselves.

Are you ready?

OK then.

68 days, or 8.4 hours a week.

So you're effectively working a day and a half extra, for free, every single week. In other words, you've been working for free for all off 2017 so far, from the 1st January up until the 9th March. Yikes.

That's a pretty sobering statistic in itself, but when you take into account factors like the gender pay gap, it's really not ideal.

You can try TotallyMoney's interactive calculator below to work out exactly how much time you spend working for free.

Anybody else going to make sure they leave work on time after reading this?

5pm, we're ready for you...
