After an extensive career promoting film, photography and heritage culture, Amanda Nevil is now the director of the British Film Institute, which runs the annual London Film Festival.

We caught up to talk inspiration and her own experiences of mentoring.

What fired your ambition?
I fell in love with the art of creativity and wanted to share this passion with others. The most exciting thing is seeing a great idea translated into something that audiences thrill in.

What’s the best careers advice that you’ve been given?
The trick is to keep your mind open, to be always on a learning curve. Wisdom can come from the most unexpected place and you should approach every day as though it is your first!
