Beautiful blooms to give you wedding flower inspiration

Planning your wedding flowers and not sure where to start? We asked London florists Jess Martin and Charlie Gozem of One Flew Over for some ideas to get you started.

THE BRIDE

1) Floral crown

Contains:
Lisianthus, Clematis, Scabious, Eucalyptus and Cryptomeria
Perfect for: Spring / summer
‘A floral crown adds a touch of the festival to your wedding – go full floral! For winter, you could easily add greens and statement blooms in deep berry reds instead.’

2) Flower clip

Contains: Spray rose, lisianthus, Eucalyptus, Autumn eucalyptus, Laurustinus
Perfect for: Any season
‘If you want flowers in your hair but aren’t sure about a floral crown, a hair piece will work for you. Lots of greenery gives a botanical feel, or you could opt for more flowers and bold colours and wear this to party!’

3) Statement bouquet

Contains:
Peonies, Dacus, Jasmine, English roses, Astrantia, Nigella, Larkspur, Sweet pea, Eucalyptus, Asparagus fern.
Perfect for: Early summer
‘A great choice for a bride looking for a pretty but punchy alternative to the traditional hand tied bouquet. Choosing English roses, jasmine and sweet peas will ensure your bouquet smells divine. Finish with a white, trailing silk ribbon to add more soft lines.’

4) Loose, flower-filled bouquet

Contains: Peonies, Sweet peas, Delphinium, Ranunculus, Lisianthus, Spray rose, Nigella, Solomon seal, Eucalyptus
Perfect for: A spring bride
‘This is great if you love flowers but want something a little less formal – use the best of all the soft spring blooms and finish with trailing ribbon.’

5) Winter bouquet

Contains: Anemones, Roses, Spray rose, Ranunculus, berried Ivy, Autumn Eucalyptus, Heather.
Perfect for: late Winter
‘Go big on seasonal foliage when it’s at it’s best.’

THE CEREMONY

8) Floral archway

Contains: Roses, Lisianthus, Anemones, Eucalyptus, Sinecio, Seasonal greens

‘A floral arch is a great way to welcome your guests to your big day! We think plenty of seasonal foliage gives an arch a natural, organic and pretty feel.’

9) Pop-up beds

Contains: Blossom, Larkspur, Scabious, Rose, Lisianthus, Aquilegia, Spirea, Fritillaria
Perfect for:
Any season
‘Ideal for lining the sides of your aisle, the front of your ceremony or the edge of a staircase. In summer (as above) go big on the floral stems for a light and airy feel, or for winter go heavy on textured greens with statement flowers instead.’

10) Foliage wall hanging

Contains: Magnolia branches, Hops, Ivy, Asparagus Fern, Ruscus, Virginia Creeper
Perfect for:
Any season
‘This fun and original ceremony backdrop works particularly well in industrial or rustic venues. These kinds of installations help to soften and focus large spaces.’

THE RECEPTION

11) Rows of mismatched vases of flowers

Contains: Ranunculus, Scabious, Aquilegia, Lisianthus, Eucalyptus, Pepperberries, Cryptomeria
Perfect for:
Any season
‘Rows of smaller vases can add a light, natural but effective floral statement to any wedding. A great way to decorate banqueting tables – especially when using sharing platters – these vases are smaller than a traditional centrepiece so can be shifted slightly to accommodate the food!’

12) Green garlands

Contains: Ruscus, Eucalyptus, Asparagus Fern, seasonal greens
Perfect for:
Any season
‘A wild and wispy garland using seasonal foliage is a great way to soften and green up any space at any time of year, in both formal and informal venues. In winter, berries and rosehip can be added for extra interest.’

13) Footed bowl centrepiece

Contains: Chocolate cosmos, Astilbe, Freesias, Dacus, Myrtle
Perfect for:
Autumn
‘The deep colour the chocolate cosmos offers is perfect for late summer or Autumn weddings. However, you could do the same arrangement in any season, just switch up the flowers and colours!
