Dating in Glasgow? We've got just the place...

It’s Scotland’s turn to get dating and naturally, we’re starting off with the largest city in the country. The home of Irn Bru, deep fried Mars Bars and an accent which while it was voted the 5th least attractive in the British Isles, we at Marie Claire personally love.

With all that and more, we’ve scoped out some of the cities best dating spots, so whether it’s your first Tinder date or 50th date, here is where you should be going:

The Date With A Difference

Overcoming adversity together is meant to be a great relationship strengthener, so why not test it out? At Escape Glasgow you’ll have 60 minutes to figure out how to exit a locked room as part of a live escape game. You and your partner will be tasked with completing puzzles, riddles and brainteasers before you escape. It’s either sink or swim with this one.

The Kooky Date

With six bars, you won’t be short of a place to sip on your vodka and coke while listening to your S.O. bang on about the boring things that happened at work that day at Waxy O’Connors. Quirky with stained glass all over the ceilings and walls and ornate carpentry, you’ll find something else to look at.

The Vegan Date

Are you the kind of vegan who wants to convert everyone that you have laid eyes on to your way of thinking (and eating)? Then you can start the process with your next date at The 78. With three courses for less than a tenner on Thursdays, yes you read that right, 10 Scottish Pounds, you can feed both yourself and your partner for a square £20. Vegan and cheap? You may just have a convert on your hands.

The Massive Calorie Consumption Date

If you’re ditching the diet, Nardini’s of Largs is the perfect place for it. In an refurbed art deco building which was originally opened in 1935, Nargini’s has panoramic views of the Clyde. We’d be torn between ordering a selection of the pastries and just diving in face first to the ice cream.

The Themed Date

As Glasgow’s first Vietnamese restaurant, The Hanoi Bike Shop is definitely one of a kind. The canteen style restaurant, is packed with square tables with wooden benches and an assortment of coloured stools for you to take a pew on.

The Swing Date

Took grade 1 tap dancing when you were about 5? Then you can definitely swing dance…we think…most likely not. But why not try at Blackfrairs Basement as part of their Too Darn Hot nights held the first Friday of every month.

The Wholesome Date

If you’ve got a blossoming relationship on your hands then the Glasgow Botanic Gardens is obviously the most appropriate place to feed it. Founded in 1817, the gardens are the perfect place to take a green-fingered lassy (or lad) for a date. Head to the restored Kibble Palace and bask in the glory of the National collection of tree ferns before heading to the tearoom for a natter and watch your relationship flower.

The Chilled Out Date

Are you searching for your inner peace? The Zen Garden at St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art may be the perfect place. Take along your partner and stroll around the gardens trying to achieve the ultimate zen. Best for couples who err towards the passive aggressive side of things.

The Presumptuous Date

If you’re reading to skip the dating altogether and go straight for the ring, then take the man of your dreams along to ROX’s Thrill Room where you can sip on champagne while you do a spot of fantasy engagement ring shopping. Maybe not a first date venue.
