Join PeTA and give up meat for 30 days to donate fruit trees worldwide

In a new bid to protect the rights of animals, PeTA has come up with a challenge this January, urging everyone to give up eating meat for 30 days. Admittedly, most resolutions we make fall by the wayside on 2 January, but the animal rights organisation is giving us a bigger incentive to follow through this time.

PeTA has teamed up with the Experience Project – the biggest website for anonymously sharing life experiences – to make the 30-Day Pledge Veg Challenge a far easier prospect.

If you start to weaken at the smell of bacon wafting from the kitchen or a fat juicy steak at your neighbour’s table in a restaurant, then stop: for every person who joins the challenge, PeTA has promised to make a donation to the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to plant 18 billion fruit trees across the world, equalling three trees for every human being.

So go on, reach for the tofu - it's only 30 days after all!
