You may have noticed Kourtney Kardashian’s abs of late. If not, it’s worth taking a quick scroll through her Instagram feed now. The mother of three has been on a flat stomach fitness mission over the past few months, and the results are impressive to say the least.
Rather than embarking on a complicated regime using an endless series of high-tech gym equipment however, the secret to Kourtney’s killer abs is quite simple; meet the super plank.
Now we said simple, but we also meant very, very tough.
While the plank has been hailed by celebs and fitness pros for years as the go-to move for a toned tum, Kourtney’s trainer, Don Brooks, has modified the move we all love to hate, taking the core strengthening benefits to a whole new level.
Explaining how it’s done, Don – who also trains Kim, Kylie and Khloe Kardashian, along with singer Fergie, Kanye West and a bevvy of super fit L.A stars – describes how he’s turned the classic plank into a full body workout using a few simple tweaks.
In an interview with eonline, Don reveals: “The plank is a favourite, but we take it to another level opening and closing the legs like scissors, while at the same time raising and dropping the hips.
“So not only are you strengthening the core but also training the hips, thighs and waist.”
If you follow Kourtney on Snapchat, you’ll have seen her perfecting the move this weekend during what looked like a gruelling outdoor session with Don.
Only now, there’s another new update in the form of hand weights.
Though we haven’t seen them being put into practice yet, it’s likely Don has encouraged Kourtney to add in yet another super plank modification, which helps to tone-up triceps and biceps too.
Verbalising what we’re all thinking, Kourtney wrapped up her weekend of super planking with the simple Don-aimed caption: “He kills me.”
It’s tough, but judging by Kourtney’s Instagram feed right now, the super plank really works.
