Kate Middleton and Prince William are among just seven royals given important roles during this weekend's ceremony

Kate Middleton and Prince William have been given key roles in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this weekend, it has been revealed.

Despite being the newest member of the royal family, Kate Middleton will join just six other senior royals to accompany the Queen as she walks down the aisle at the celebratory Service of Thanksgiving, being held at St Paul's cathedral.

According to the Telegraph, the Queen has decided her Diamond Jubilee celebrations will focus around those in the direct line of succession,

It's thought just seven of the most important royals - the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Prince Philip will be at her side for the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Princess Anne, Peter and Zara Phillips will take on smaller roles during the celebrations.

It's thought Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with the core group of royals have been given the prestigious job of accompanying the Queen down the aisle of St Paul's Cathedral, as she arrives for a special Thanksgiving service to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

The order of service, which has been made available on the St Paul's website, reveals the ceremony will start at 10:30 am on Tuesday morning, with more than 2,000 guests, and 50 members of the royal family invited.

On Sunday, William and Kate, and the key royals will travel on the Queen's royal barge during the prestigious Jubilee pageant down the River Thames, while they will also be the only members of the family to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the flypast, and travel in the royal procession down the Mall after the St Paul's ceremony.
