Sonia Rykiel S/S 2009
Sonia Rykiel celebrated her label's 40th anniversary in Paris this week with a show that will go down in fashion history as one of the most upbeat, celebratory and, shock horror, fun! Yes, the show might not have started until 11pm, but tired minds were instantly uplifted thanks to the perky collection of Parisian chic ruffled jerseys, twinkling berets and taffeta minidresses. And then, just when we thought it was all over, as a present to Sonia, her daughter introduced 30 more models sporting homages to the Rykiel design ethos from peers including Rodarte, Jean Paul Gaultier and Marin Margiela. What a night!
