Karl Lagerfeld S/S 2009

Just when we were getting used to the idea of spring/summer '09 being all about laidback lines and relaxed dressing, Karl Lagerfeld goes all body-con on us. Not that we're talking Herve Leger-style bandage dresses, but the designer's own-label collection for the coming season certainly requires a gym-honed body to wear it the way it's intended. With wide patent belts designed to cinch in the waist and an unforgiving palette of black and white, this is fashion designed to make people sit up and take notice when you walk in the room.
