Betty Jackson

By Lucy Hutchings  on Tuesday 12 February 2008

Marie Claire Fashion: London Fashion Week, Betty Jackson Autumn/Winter 2008

Showing that the established names of British fashion still prove as much of a draw as the hot new thing, Betty Jackson's show today at the BFC tent proved one of the busiest of the week to date.

And Betty did not disapoint. Showing the classic and feminine style for which she is loved, she peppered the collection with flashes of sequins, shots of colour and splashy prints.

Their heads adorned with jewel encrused skull caps, models took to the catwalk in an array of coloured ribbed tights, all featuring sporadic strips of sequins and beads, adding a modern touch to Jackson's signature look. Arm warmers in citrus orange and lime green added flashes of bright from beneath neutral seperates.

Proving a hit across the collections this season, everything was teamed with polo necks, whether full circle skirts or beaded evening dresses, showing that we will all be layering up again come September.

Perhaps Betty's wide ranging appeal is best shown through her eclectic front row. Oscar nominated actress Laura Linney sat beside queens of TV Davina McCall and Jennifer Saunder, supermodel Erin O'Connor, an All Saint and footballers wife Elen Rives. A perefct example of the designer's enduring and age-defying appeal.
