Jaeger London
By Lucy Hutchings on Monday 11 February 2008
Jaeger London made its London Fashion Week debut yesterday, joining Topshop for a schedule that was dominated by the two high street giants.
Inspired by the brand's rich history, the autumn/winter 2008 collection featured a hint of Sixties glamour, teamed with an edginess not immediately associated with the classic English brand.
The results included snakeskin leggings paired with shaggy Mongolian bomber jackets, and fringing hung low from scarves and the hems of floaty bohemian style dresses. Jackets were edged with hints of black patent leather, which also adorned the model's feet in the form of vertiginous heeled shoe boots.
The mood was dark, with models sporting deep aubergine lips reflecting a deep palette, which was predominantly black, with petrol blues, mossy greens and hints of camel sneaking through.
What the classic Jaeger lady may make of the direction is yet to be seen, but for the fashion crowd, Jaeger claimed its place on the capital's catwalks and proved its place amongst a packed designer schedule.
