Milly
By Carla Bevan on Friday 8 February 2008
'Up-town girl glamour,' was how Michelle Smith described her latest collection for Milly.
However, it was prim-and-proper glamour complete with pearl buttons, duchesse satin pleated skirts and pretty organza cap-sleeved blouses rather than glamour in the Hollywood, flash-your-best assets, sense of the word.
(There was one see-through camisole, but it's safe to say, it wasn't designed to be worn sans bra in the real world.)
A few pieces had a little Twenties flair, with drop-waists and scalloped, crystal-encrusted, art deco hems. In the main, though, the collection was dainty and conservative.
Ribbon belts, floral prints and fur all featured heavily, illustrating the 'dress-up' feel Michelle said she'd been after to perfection.
