Marie Claire Fashion: Tibi A/W 2008

New York's love affair with all things English continues. Taking her lead from Carolina Herrera, who yesterday filled her collection with hunting tweeds and hacking jackets, Tibi's Amy Smilovic continued the British theme in the Bryant Park tents today, but with a less traditional take on English style.

With names like 'Kings Road cardigan', 'Sloane Ranger gown' and 'Tottenham topstick dress', the collection was an homage to the Seventies, filled with paisley prints, pussy-bow blouses and high-waisted, kick-flare trousers.

It wasn't all about English influences though, with some seriously retro Studio 54-inspired lamé pieces and some great Californian-housewife maxi dresses.

Everything, however, was utterly wearable thanks to a modern cut and flattering lines.

Forget the Sixties, it looks like it'll be the Seventies which are swinging next season, whichever side of the Atlantic you happen to live on.
