Catwalk Report: Cos

Cos SS08

AS H&M'S MORE sophisticated sibling, Cos may share the company's design concept of 'fashion and quality at the best price,' but it is certainly a more grown-up line.

The spring/ summer 2008 range was shown at London's Royal Horticultural Halls, in a light airy space that seemed to reflect the aesthetic of the collection. The models emerged with a very clean slick look; hair was straight and make-up minimal, albeit for splashes of orange lips. Similarly, the clothing was all about neat lines and block colour.

Described as a 'modernist clean-lined silhouette,' crisp cotton T-shirts in white and black had subtle volume over straight mini skirts in bolder block colours. Dresses were key throughout, and featured an array of shapes and styles. For shorter looks, trapeze shapes ruled, and when the look was tighter then the hem line fell to the knee.

With a subtle colour palette, and little print or embellishment, many questioned whether the high-street line may be worthy of a catwalk show. For affordable and beautifully designed clothing though, Cos is definitely a high street destination for today's fashion-conscious woman.
