The look: Austere grey coats and black boxy jackets were worn over slim trousers or sheer sheath dresses, while angular blazers juxtaposed clingy jersey dresses.

The era: Like many other designers this season, Karl Lagerfeld's collection took inspiration from those Eighties power dresssers, but he added to the the sheer sexuality of his towering Amazons with girly details like neon nail varnish and bright driving gloves.
