WHERE IS LUKE SKYWALKER, PEOPLE?!

Teasers, trailers and posters for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens film have been released over the last few days and fans everywhere are going crazy for them.

The latest, coming out from China, begins with an introduction from former K-pop idol Luhan, and features some never-before-seen footage from the film. Showing a menacing Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), we get our first look at just how much action is in the new film, with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac all getting to show how they fit into the new generation of characters.

With the trailers and teasers asking more questions than answering, fans have gone into a frenzy with new theories about the films coming to light left, right and centre.

Here are some of our most burning questions and the possible answers:

Who is Rey?!

The trailer and poster hints that Rey, played by British actress Daisy Ridley will be the central character in the upcoming film. While we know little about the character and her backstory, it's been speculated that she is the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia.

The star herself admitted to getting a little teary when first seeing the trailer on her Instagram account, posting a video of herself in bed watching it on her iPhone with the caption:

'Staying in a little b'n'b with my friend...Set an alarm to watch the trailer...My friend filmed my reaction. Totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy #starwars #theforceawakens'

Where is Luke Skywalker?!

While the epic poster - which has the mysterious tagline ‘An awakening of the dark side…and the light’ - feature familiar faces including the brooding Han Solo (played by the silver fox that is Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (without her iconic hairstyle, shame!) and of course, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker who was confirmed to be played by Mark Hamill again for the film is noticeably absent from the crowd.

While eager eyed fans have noticed that he’s been absent from most of the teasers as well – which is out in UK cinemas on 17th December - some fans have pointed to the second teaser where a hooded figure is seen placing a hand on R2-D2 as a clue to Skywalker's involvement in the film.

While others have theorised that John Boyega’s character, Finn who is new to the franchise might be holding Luke’s blue lightsaber which he lost at the end of The Empire Strikes Back in the poster. However the tell-tale hilt is hidden. The mystery continues...

What's that weird alien about?!

One of the only new character featured on the poster is a small and slightly creepy looking alien stood next to R2-D2 and his BFFL, C-3PO.

While we were flummoxed, Twitter has gone into overdrive with theories that this could be the first sighting of Lupita Nyong’o’s character, Maz Kanata who is billed as a pirate. With the new trailer giving nothing away, we'll just have to wait until the release date to be sure.

Is that a Death Star 3.0?!

Could our eyes be deceiving us or is that a new Death Star we spy on the poster?! Maybe.

What's all the hype about these teasers?!

The new trailers feature Rey (played by Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Finn and the much hyped, Kylo Ren, played by Girls actor, Adam Driver but does anyone else just think it's a lot of actors staring into space?!

No, seriously now, who and what is Kylo Ren guys?!

No one is still quite sure who or what the masked Kylo Ren is but his crucifix lightsaber has already become the stuff of legends. Fan theories have ranged from Kylo actually being Luke (it would explain his absence on the poster) to him being Luke's son or Leia and Han's son OR even being the Emperor Palpatine's grandson.

The newest trailer perhaps gives us the biggest hint yet, with Kylo saying 'Nothing will stand in our way. I will finish what you started' to the battered mask of the series' original antagonist, Darth Vader.
