When rumours of Lindsay Lohan teaming up with Emma Stone for a Mean Girls 2 sequel started floating all over the world wide web we thought 2017 had peaked, but that was before the Mamma Mia sequel was confirmed.

Yes, next year marks the the tenth anniversary of Mamma Mia and to celebrate one of its biggest hits in cinema history (it grossed at $609 MILLION worldwide, FYI) Universal are planning a sequel - and all we can say to that is thank you for the music (sorry not sorry).

To make the news even more exciting it sounds like members of the original cast will be returning for the second instalment, thought to be called Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. It's rumoured that Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth are currently expected to return.

According to Deadline, the sequel will include flashback scenes showing 'how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present.'

In even more exciting news, Lily James has been announced as the actress set to play a young Donna Sherdian, the character previously portrayed by the iconic Meryl Streep in the 2008 original.

The sequel is due to hit cinemas in July 2018 and Judy Craymer, the the original stage musical's co-creator is rumoured to be on board. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will be providing music and lyrics - so we have every hope the sequel will be just as fantastic as the original.
