And we’re getting serious FOMO…

The Royal Family raised eyebrows at the 2017 Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey last month. Despite Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall all being in attendance, there were two people visibly absent from the multi-faith celebration: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince William’s absence was immediately explained when photos emerged of the 34-year-old royal enjoying a boys skiing holiday in the Swiss Alps with close friends, enjoying the après-ski life until the early hours.

While the Duke of Cambridge was criticised for skipping the Commonwealth service and for seemingly leaving his wife at home to look after the children, it turns out that the Duchess of Cambridge was also on the slopes – the couple even shared a private jet to their destinations.

While Prince William spent his trip catching up with friends and entertaining locals with his dad dancing in Verbier, Switzerland, Kate Middleton was based at Meribel in the French Alps, attending her sister Pippa Middleton’s skiing hen do.

‘Pippa loves skiing so it was her first choice for a hen weekend,’ an insider told The Sun. ‘They stayed in a really exclusive catered chalet with maids and chef, who ensured that they were totally spoilt. It was a very small, private party and they had an amazing time.’

The bachelorette party were also apparently showered with gifts, with Pippa’s guests receiving Swatch watches, Ugg boots, personalised fragrances and leather notebooks. Our FOMO could not be worse right now.

Having announced their engagement in July 2016, Pippa and her hedge fund manager fiancé, James Matthews, are expected to tie the knot next month in a private ceremony in Englefield next month.
