‘I bring more to the table than what I represent physically’

Jon Hamm may have a new film, Baby Driver, out soon but to us he will always be Mad Men’s Don Draper: suave, successful and incredibly sexy.

The 46-year-old actor recently explained how people too often judge him on his looks alone, looking past what else he has to offer.

‘Jon’s comedy chops are not in question,’ Baby Driver director Edgar Wright explained. ‘He’s very dry, very quick.’ He went on to explain, ‘It’s rare to find a dramatic actor who’s also funny. Handsome people aren’t usually funny either.’

Jon Hamm however disagrees, commenting on the statement in a recent interview with The Guardian. ‘That’s certainly not been my experience,’ he insisted. ‘Kristen Wiig is a beautiful lady and she’s one of the funniest people I know,’ before going on to list Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Matt Damon as other funny beautiful people.

‘I bring more to the table than what I represent physically,’ he explained. ‘And it’s a daily struggle to prove that. Obviously it’s a lovely thing for people to say, but sometimes it comes with a shitty dig underneath.’
