According to social media
Still reeling from last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show? Yes, us too. And although it’s no surprise to know that the lingerie giant has a serious hold on the consumer market, it’s their stars (or, should that be angels?) that seem to make the biggest impact on the public.
So there may be 14 Victoria’s Secret Angels in total (hello, Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Sara Sampaio, Elsa Hosk, Josephine Skriver, Lily Aldridge, Jasmine Tookes, Stella Maxwell, Romee Strijd, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt and Taylor Hill) but an internet algorithm has just figured out who the top dog (OK, fine, angel) really is.
Analytics agency D’Marie ranked the Angels in order of their social influence, based on ‘each influencer’s ability to generate reach, engagement and most importantly sales conversions from their social media portfolio. We call this an influencer’s ‘true value,’ says the company website.
‘We’ve developed an algorithm that compiles over 24 specific metrics from each social media platform that determines an individual’s ranking amongst other’s in any variety of categories.’
What this means, in real talk, is that they’ve calculated not just followers, and likes, but how many people are actually clicking through to see the brands they’re wearing or ending up on geotags to look up where they are.
This lot aren’t just models, they’re smart businesswomen who know exactly what they’re doing to amplify their personal brand.
Now you’re wondering who won the top five spots, right? According to social media, it seems that some angels really do have more influence than others, in terms of popularity and consumer clout, and the countdown goes…
5. Lily Aldridge
4. Josephine Skriver
3. Taylor Hill
2. Alessandra Ambrosio
1. Adriana Lima
Considering each of their photos gets no less than 100,000 likes (and in some cases, way more than 600K), it’s no surprise that the Victoria Secret models are standing tall in their industry influence the world over.
