And we cannot wait.

When Big Little Lies came to our screens last year, it was clear from the get-go that the Sky Atlantic adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s bestselling book and its female-led cast were going to be a smash hit.

It’s hardly surprising therefore that the show has been confirmed for a second series, with A-list friends Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman returning to co-star and co-produce, along with their original BLL squad: Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz.

Even Alexander Skarsgard is set to return to the HBO show, surprising everyone in the most unexpected cameo ever, because, well, his character was killed off in the last season - we’re hoping for his onscreen wife Nicole Kidman’s sake that his return is limited to flashbacks.

And of course the second series, set to premiere in 2019, will see new faces - with Meryl Streep even joining the cast as Perry’s mother, Mary Louise Wright - something the BLL actresses have been gushing about.

With the show set to premiere in 2019, production is already underway, with HBO teasing us with details, explaining in a statement that the second season would focus on the ‘malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.’

Now it looks like the cast has got involved too, with the Big Little Lies leading ladies taking to Instagram to share behind the scenes shots of filming, with Nicole Kidman even posting a photo of Meryl in character as Mary Louise Wright.

'First day on the set with Meryl and "my" darling boys!' she captioned the post of her BLL family.

Reese Witherspoon has also been posting teasers, uploading a photo alongside Laura Dern last month, as Madeleine and Renata. ‘Watch out Monterey, here we come!’, she posted, using the hashtag, ‘#BLL2’.

Others to follow suit were Zoe Kravitz and Shailene Woodley, who took to their Instagram feeds to inform their fans that they were back.

We officially cannot wait for season two.
